District Clerk

Overview

The District Clerk is the Clerk to the 220th Judicial District Court and County Court At Law and the custodian of all court records.

The 220th District Court hears Civil ( up to and over $325,000) property tax cases, cases involving trust, felony criminal cases, and domestic relation matters which include divorces, annulments, adoptions, and child support cases.

The County Court at Law hears Civil ($325,000 or less), domestic relation matters which include divorces, annulments, adoptions, CPS, and juveniles.

The District Clerk also participates in the jury wheel, reconstitution of jury wheels, certifying jury lists, and arranging for juries.

The District Clerk does not handle passports those are referred to the local post office.

Civil, Family, CPS, & Juvenile Cases (County Court at Law)  are tried at the Judicial Building, 401 Hill Street.

Notice of Paperless Process

Effective May 2022 our District and CCL Courts have gone paperless in the District Clerk's Office. All filings that go through EFILE are considered originals. All filings through EFILE will be in our CMS. All filings brought to court will be scanned into our CMS. Any exhibits and or records that cannot be scanned will be kept in our filing cabinet.
